In November, the National Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors approved changes to Article 10 of the Code of Ethics to prohibit discriminatory speech and conduct outside of members’ real estate practices. The changes prohibit REALTORS® from using harassing speech, hate speech, epithets, or slurs based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity in any context.
NAR is hosting live virtual training to provide guidance on the changes and an opportunity to ask questions. Register for any of the following sessions training at nar.realtor:
- Wednesday, December 16
- Thursday, January 14
- Tuesday, February 9
- Tuesday, March 9
- Tuesday, April 6
NAR is now affiliated with the cancel culture. Congrats NAR, glad to see my money is being utilized to stifle my first amendment rights as a private citizen. Hope NAR goes the way of the NFL.
If you do not want to be a professional get another profession. This is a licensed industry and NAR is membership based, so if you don’t like it, don’t be a REALTOR member and just move on.
NAR, you might want to look at some of the lawsuits that are coming out at the moment, involving this type of issue. They are becoming more prevalent and expensive to deal with. The terms you are using are too broad and you are asking for legal issues from Realtors. I would carefully tread on encroaching on Realtor’s private lives and speech, given the environment of the country at the moment.
