Thanks to the strong support of tens of thousands of members, investments in TREPAC/The Texas REALTORS® Political Action Committee reached remarkable levels in 2020 despite the challenges presented by the pandemic.

“Texas REALTORS® really showed up for our profession this year,” said Tony Lloyd, 2020 TREPAC chairman. “Having 2020’s numbers be so strong even though we’re living through such a challenging time demonstrates our culture is strong and members understand the importance of investing in TREPAC to support candidates who support our industry.”

A main focus during 2020 was educating members on REALTOR® advocacy and the role TREPAC plays in supporting the real estate industry. TREPAC at the state level collaborated with local associations to show REALTORS® why it’s important. “When REALTORS® understand how all the components of advocacy work together, they understand why it’s so important to vote, act, and invest,” Lloyd said.

A Creative Approach

TREPAC and local REALTOR® associations in Texas adapted to new fundraising methods in 2020.  More than 40 local associations hosted online silent auctions, and TREPAC hosted live events, including a virtual 5K and statewide virtual auctions during the Texas REALTORS® Conference and TREPAC/Governmental Affairs Orientation to close out the year. Many local associations also held fun virtual events, such as catered meals to accompany meetings, game nights, and cooking demonstrations.

TREPAC’s Mission

The mission of the Texas REALTORS® Political Action Committee is to raise and disburse funds to promote homeownership, protect real property rights, and increase political awareness. These strong totals in 2020 enable Texas REALTORS® to continue supporting local, state, and national candidates and elected officials who have a proven track record of protecting private-property rights, preserving the dream of homeownership, and supporting the vitality of the real estate industry.
